The ADVOCACY COMMITTEE is responsible for coordinating the advocacy activities of the Chapter on matters of importance to the membership and to health education. The Committee provides input into the decision-making process on behalf of the membership. This input, as approved by the Executive Board, can be provided by communicating with decision-makers and agencies, offering testimony and documentation, and when appropriate and advantageous, by participating in informal coalitions with other organizations. A member of the committee serves as liaison with the National SOPHE Advocacy Committee and participates in its regularly scheduled meetings.
VISION
To identify and influence priority health issues and policies within the National Capital Area and to serve as a voice in addressing public health policy.
